Mayor's Cup Regatta
Because of ongoing COVID-19 precautions we will not be gathering hundreds of supporters and volunteers together for our 2020 Mayor’s Cup Regatta on July 12th. Instead, we invite you to be part of our new 50 in 50 Challenge to raise the important funds for our programs for youth and adults living with a disability.

The annual Mayor's Cup Regatta takes place every July on the Esplanade of the Charles River*, with dozens of boats racing along the Charles to raise funds for ASA programs, to raise awareness about our programs, and to challenge athletes of all abilities.. Teams of eight (most of whom include at least one person living with a disability) compete in Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Races.
This isn't just any boat race! Our signature Regatta consists of teams of 8 (most include a teammate who lives with a disability - we have ASA athletes ready to join your team too!) competing in Hawaiian Outrigger Canoes. You will race in double-hulled traditional canoes, provided by ASA. Again this year, our corporate and philanthropic sponsored teams will be joined by friend/family teams and individuals (we'll assign you to a boat). Corporate teams that did not participate in the 2019 Mayor's Cup are eligible to participate as a Newcomer Corporate Team! No experience necessary! Paddlers must be 5 years or older. Bring your crew and spend a day on the Charles River with nearly 300 paddlers, volunteers, and supporters. Race day includes timed races, on shore activities, live music and a post-race luau. Prizes will be awarded to teams with the most spirit, best time, best team uniform/costume, top fundraising for individuals, corporate teams, and friend/family teams, and more. Come race with us or just cheer on the teams!
*This event will take place on Boston's Charles River from the River Dock on the DCR’s Esplanade just over the Arthur Fielder Footbridge near the Hatch Shell

Paddlers, children up to 8 are guests. Wristbands are required; available in advance or at the Registration Tent for $25. Limited seating available, so plan to bring a blanket or chairs to enjoy the luau in the shade on the grass.

Parking and Directions (leave plenty of time to get to the Regatta):
Good places to park include at meters around the Public Garden or in the Boston Common Underground Garage beneath Boston Common (map) for a longer visit. Enter the Underground Garage by going north (it's one-way) on Charles St South.
Red line: exit at Charles/MGH stop and cross the Arthur Fielder footbridge.
Green line: exit at the Arlington stop, walk up Arlington Street towards the Charles River, and cross the Arthur Fiedler footbridge to the Esplanade.
